The Heated Channel MFS (Mass Flow Sensor) is studied so as to have a high sensitivity and a quite fast response time. The heater is a stainless steel capillary and the gas flows through it. The thermocouples necessary for temperature detection are inserted into the stainless steel capillary directly, electrically disconnected, in view of accelerate the rate response. This flowmeter is also available combined with a flow-control valve to form a mass-flow feedback controller, widely used in special propulsion devices. A preliminary theoretical model has been developed to study the operation at constant power and constant temperature. In this work it will be shown the characteristics of a Heated Channel MFS model, the power consumption and the analysis of the two operating modes.
