Single input single output (SISO) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) modal analyses techniques were compared for the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the inflated torus and membrane mirror satellites. It was observed that during a MIMO test, there is less interference or disturbance of the test setup as compared to the SISO methodology. Another benefit of performing MIMO test is that the number of tests and testing time is also reduced. The SISO methodology for analyzing the test structure provides fairly accurate mode shapes of the structure, but in the presence of nonlinearities in the test structure, the modal parameter estimation algorithm failed.
