Automotive engines emission is recognized as a major source of concentrated pollution. With respect to the increasing pollution consideration, the fuel cell power plants have been mentioned to reach cheaper energy to satisfy the economical problem with a point of view toward decreasing emission. HFCV (Hybrid Fuel Cell Vehicle) seems to be the best way to solve related problem, particularly in urban areas. In this paper, a fuel cell has been used with an accumulator as dual sources for providing necessary demand power in a series HFCV structure. In the first step, to reach an instantaneous energy management between these dual sources, this structure has been modeled as an optimization problem included a target function which minimizes the gas consumption and with respect to the dynamic model of system. In the next step with respect to the discrete behavior of this optimization problem, an OOP tool has been developed based on GA (Genetic Algorithm) to solve this optimization problem to establish an instantaneous power management between fuel cell and battery. GA has good results in various applications, and in this application, GA is a suitable strategy. The results show that the fuel economy of this dual sources increase. Also it shows that the GA is as powerful method to solving this kind of problems.
