The major purpose of the Engine-Noise control is to isolate the low frequency vibrations of the engine from the car structure. The objective of this work is to compare two possible actuator positions together with suitable control structures. The dynamic of the system describing the motion of the engine and the chassis in the plane are investigated through analytical models, and the two configurations are compared by means of frequency analysis tools. State feedback control is applied and a comparison study is provided using different system outputs such as the displacement (velocity and acceleration) and the relative displacement (relative velocity and relative acceleration). Then we propose the feedback-gain tuning using LQG method. Beside the state feedback control and LQG methods, also Hx approach is investigated for the obtained models. Finally the performances of the different approaches are discussed and compared. An experimental setup for one of the presented configurations is built and an Hinfinity controller is implemented and tested.
