At present computational fluid dynamics has already penetrated and changed the aerodynamic development process. This trend will continue with the improvement of simulation methods and the rapid growth of computer performance, reducing turn around times and increasing the quality of results. A clear advantage of CFD is the ability to simulate unusual conditions which are not easily accessible by experiment like moving ground or cornering with bank angle. However, an enormous challenge for CFD tools is still the prediction of wind noise. The major potential for optimising the simulation process lies in the geometry preparation and modification. Currently variations needs to be created on the basis of CAD surfaces. It was started to use tools which allow shape modifications on the surface mesh, thus circumventing time consuming remeshing. Together with the initialisation of a simulation from previous results, it might be possible to also conduct optimisation loops using CFD.
