The development of a design methodology was studied for optimized flutter control of an aeroelastic delta wing using spatially optimized transducers. Transducer spatial optimizations were shown to substantially improve the robustness and performance of active systems. The methods of piezoelectric patch modeling and modeling error prediction were shown to be valuable tools for the optimization of transducer in adaptive structures.
