The next generation of aluminum alloys is being engineered using an integrated suite of computer simulation tools. The definition of the material property goals is becoming a collaborative effort between airframer and material producer. It is preferable to use the airframer's computation tools to do design studies, but for cases in which this is not possible, the materials producer needs their own simulation environment.
