We focused on the advantages of a piezoelectric element and succeeded in creating of a very small wiper system for CCD camera. Since we use the vibration of a piezoelectric element as the source of driving force, the system has neither DC-motor nor driving link. Furthermore, because the element is built in the blade, the wiper system is small and simple. As a result of applying the sawtooth waveform voltage with the frequency of hundreds Hz, and adjusting friction torque of shaft, the wiper for a CCD camera activate with the speed required for it. We assumed the wiper blade with a piezoelectric actuator as the equivalent beam and analyzed its motion theoretically by using the Principle of Hamilton. As the result of analysis, the relation between the vibration and the rotational movement of beam was clarified, and the driving mechanism was made clear. The validity of the fundamental analysis that is based on the flexible multi-body dynamics was also experimentally confirmed.
