For the supply of components to the automobile industry, just in time procedures are common today. Therefore, clear identification of the supplied item is necessary. Usually this is done using bar code labels. These labels, however, show a number of disadvantages. The use of electronic micro-systems with transponders integrated into textile coverings instead of bar code labels facilitates product data management both in the production run and during the supply to the vehicle assembly. Additionally, integrating transponders into textiles can extend their use far beyond the manufacturing process. In the case of any damages, product identification can be facilitated and an automated order of spare parts implemented. This can be done just using passive transponders. Using active micro transponder systems integrated into the coverings offer just more advantages. The implementation of textile sensors can offer detailed information about the use of each individual seat. The results offer detailed information to the vehicle manufacturer, who can recognise and accept different cabin layouts and consider the details with new vehicle construction. In connection with the video cameras installed in the vehicle, fast and efficient control of each individual vehicle is possible. The particular attraction of the technology presented here is the possibilities it creates for the marketing of additional advertising in public traffic systems' vehicles. In connection with classical advertising effect control, numerous new services for market research can be developed.
