A model-based fault detection and diagnosis system was developed for the monitoring the vehicle chassis performance. The vehicle model consist of main module and the external module. The main module contains vehicle dynamics, tire system, power-train, steering system, suspension system and braking system. The external module contains the environmental module, the driver module, the sensor module, the brake and suspension controller module and the communication module. It is shown how the fault detection and isolation approach can be applied for a brake-by-wire system. Simulation results using the techniques parity equation residual generation and generalized observer scheme are shown for the faults in the left front caliper sensor and in the left-front current sensor.
