NEC consider the Comprehensive Quality of the system LSI , especially a microcontroller which is used to a car electronics system, consists of the following four Qualities. First one is the design Quality which specifies a performance and function. Second one is the product Quality in the chip fabrication factory which manufactures a product. Third one is the inspection test Quality when a product is shipped. The last one is the service Quality which feeds back the result in a market to manufacture and to design. NEC performs the secured quality activities which has taken each characteristic into consideration about each quality reservation. In this paper about the microcontroller which has big influence on the reliability of an automobile system at large the technology and technique which turns to the reliability reservation by chip design, production, evaluation and inspection, at the example one microcontroller product which attained high reliability developed for engine control, are introduced.
