The Cetus I and II belong to the Cetus family of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles developed by the Lockheed Martin Perry Technologies. Both systems were designed for operation in 200m. Just recently, Lockheed Martin Perry Technologies established the Marine Automation and Robotics Engineering (MARE) Laboratory to act as an independent technology developer and provider for advanced Unmanned Underwater Vehicle systems. The three technology focus areas of MARE are in the development and enhancement of a hardware/software framework architecture which flexibly integrates perspective components with the platform. These include the Multisensor Intelligent Robotic Architecture (MIRA), the Doppler Inertial Acoustic System for UUV Navigation (DIAS), and Image Signal Processing and Exploitation. MARE is also developing the Cetus III AUV.
