A method for calculating fatigue damage ratio of a jack-up platform with the independent legs during operations is developed. Application of this method for the Tamdao rig operated in the South Vietnam Sea indicates that the fatigue damage ratio is 0,0198 per year, which is less than the allowable one of 0,0250. The method may be applied for the designing new jack-up units as well as for reanalysis of existing platforms. A detailed fatigue analysis for a jack-up platform is a complicated problem due to its real structure and environmental conditions. This paper illustrates the computer model of a jack-up platform in operating condition, the processing of environment data and an analysis of structural dynamics by direct integration method, and recommends a procedure for fatigue damage estimation applicable in practice. Example calculations are presented for the Tamdao rig located in the South Vietnam Sea.
