The driving systems of the battle ships are distinguished by the total power installed up to 100 MW (or 60 kW/t), power of individual turbine engines about 30 MW and high fuel consumption (about 0.230 kg/kWh). Some problems connected with start-up and operation of gas turbine engines assembled on high-speed missile battle ships were reviewed. A system for diagnostics of gas turbine engines was developed and implemented in the Polish Navy. The system includes measurement and computing 150 parameters of the engine operation, detection and spectral analysis of vibration as well as an endoscopy of damages and failures.
