The straining influence on the corrosion resistance of cold-rolled and zinc-coated steel sheets was investigated through natural and accelerated corrosion tests. Cracks are detected or not after straining according to the coating nature. When they appear, two morphologies are observed: paving with a kind of brittle rupture and cracks in all directions with a ductile rupture. However, whatever the behaviour, the whole surface is phosphated. A 5% plane strain does not really modify the delamination rate while a 15% stretching increases it, especially in the case of straining sensitive coatings. The Scab test appears to be the more appropriate test to reveal the strain influence.
