A new concept for designing a controller/filter combination for actuator control of primary flight control systems is considered. Based on a reduced actuator/wing model a robust controller with filter characteristics was designed. Phase displacements and structure activation were reduced simultaneous1y in an analytic manner. Additional filtering and stabilizing measures can be neglected. The design based on a simple model clarifies the advantages of the robust control techniques with loop shaping, but the whole potential of the robust control techniques will be shown with the real complex actuator model.
