The Azure liquefied natural gas (LNG) programme aimed to develop a floating concrete LNG production system to be used offshore. A large deck area was provided for liquefaction process plant with single hull concept and selecting a shalow draught for the barge. Vault effect was used to reduce the total volume of concrete by using cylindrical shapes to withstand combined and stored fluid pressure loading and flexion. Three tanks were constructed to provide high transverse stability with negligible free surface effect.Tests were performed on the concrete and membrane under cryogenic conditions to ensure damage stability and prevent collision, fire explosion and cold leaks.
