For the improving velocity need of the high-speed train in China, our institution put forward the friction trigging proposal of C/C composite trigging brake-C/C composite brake-block. After sufficiently studying, the first frame experiment of high-speed train C/C composite brakes was carried out. The coefficient of friction is too low, only 0.17 -0.25, and the lowest value is only 1/3 of the desirable value. The important reason is the high graphitization of C/C composites and the 53 % graphite ingredient, which forms the self-lubrication film between the friction faces. In addition, the graphite and anti-friction ingredient in cast iron also plays an important role in decreasing the coefficient of friction. The low coefficient of friction influences the braking time and braking distance. The future focus of research is how to improve the coefficient of friction. The one way to improve coefficient of friction is to choose the heat treatment temperature, which can make C/C coefficient of friction reach 0.3 by experiment; the other way is to add the high friction ingredient and adjust the matrix formula.
