Typical Russian four-wheel trucks (type 18-100, rated speed 120 km/h) for goods wagons produced since 1956 were lately substantially modernized. That time, the allowable load on the truck axle was increased from 205.8 kN up to 230 kN to 245 kN now. An 11-body graph model of the force and kinematic connections between the truck and wagon body was elaborated and used for assessing the dynamic behaviour of the truck. The normal wheel-on-rail load increased with increasing train velocity but the slope of the load-velocity curves was smaller for bilinear suspension than for the monolinear one. New shapes of efficient vibration dampers were designed.
