One type of the advanced Bi-function HID headlamp systems are the Bi-Litronic projection modules with lens diameters of 70 / 60 mm. They are designed to match the standards of light quality that have been set by HID low beam technology. Bi-Litronic systems allow the use of the HID technology for both low and high beam in the same reflector, with only one bulb and one electronic control unit. Important features of the Bi-Litronic projection systems are not only the reduced volume compared to using separate low beam and high beam reflector chambers, the reduced power consumption due to the elimination of two halogen bulbs and the extended lifetime of the HID bulb. Also the modular concept with lenses of varying diameters and the world wide applicability are important aspects for the headlamp design. But the most attractive feature of Bi-Litronic is the high quality HID light distribution for both low and high beam.
