This paper summarizes the studies performed to simulate impact response of a composite subfloor beam design for aircraft structures applications. The paper presents an overview of the background design information for energy-absorbing composite subfloor beams and defines a specific configuration for analyses reported herein. The nonlinear transient dynamics analysis tool is MSC/DYTRAN. The modeling and simulation aspects of the impact simulation are described.
