In order to meet the current demand of Time To Market reduction in Automotive sector, the simulations of the full vehicle behaviour are becoming more and more critical for the development of new vehicles and require a full reliable representation of all the main components, e.g. the tyre. Due to the complex behaviour of the tyre (e.g. dependency of linear properties on testing methodology), a characterisation based on testing methodologies consistent with the actual tyre working conditions is strictly necessary. This means that it is necessary to use different tyre data sets for different working conditions: for instance, the simulation of a pure linear manoeuvre where the tyre slip angles are less than 1,5 until 2 deg requires a tyre representation different from a manoeuvre where the tyre slip angles are greater than 5 deg. This paper describes a characterisation methodology supplying different tyre parameter sets and shows validation examples with different manoeuvres.
