The direct yaw moment control (DYC) is becoming one of the most promising method of chassis control for vehicle active safety. A slip model following DYC by sliding control is proposed. A simple nonlinear tire model on board is used in the sliding control to calculate the control yaw moment as well as to estimate vehicle side-slip angle for the control. Computer simulation shows the effects of the side-slip model following control on active safety improvement.
