The importance of micro-milling grows as the demand for smaller parts within the medical, telecommunications, and aerospace industries increases. Unlike conventional milling, there are no reference materials (such as the Machining Data Handbook for conventional milling) that explain the ''how to'' of micro-milling. This paper presents an empirical study of micro-milling, describing results and experiences from a series of micro-milling experiments. The practical utility of micro-milling is demonstrated in the production of a prototype micro-scale force transducer.
