This progress report presents a thermofluid model of the two cycle engine from the point of air induction through the engine processes to the exchaust. It includes air-fuel charging by carburetion and throttle control, intake charge and exhaust product mixing, compression, combustion, and cylinder scavenging. Flame speed and heat transfer considerations are structured to allow for matching to specific engine configurations. A key modeling factor is shown to be the mixing consideration of the fresh charge and exhaust residual during the intake/exhaust process. Early results show reasonable parametric variations. The model is now being tuned to specific engine results.
