At TNO in the Netherlands an automatic regulation device for carburettors has been developed so cars could run on different mixtures of methanol and petrol without carburettor rejetting. The unit automatically adjusts the flow through the idle jet and the main jet of the carburettor according to the methanol content of the fuel from 0 % to near 100 % methanol. A Volvo 343 with the first generation of this unit has been tested one year (16.000 km) at the National Institute of Technology (STI). The work was sponsored by the Norwegian Methanol Group (NMG).
