Scatter of the structureborne component of interior noise can be as high as 15 dB for nominally indentical vehicles. A hybrid analytical and experimental model of structureborne noise generation has been employed to evaluate the scatter problem, and it is shown that the essential features of structureborne noise scatter are reporduced using this technique. Structural-acoustic transfer function may be used to characterise the nature and extent of structureborne noise scatter.
