This paper describes some major results obtained from tests of systematic series of cavitating screw propellers in oblique flow. Propellers are specially designed for oblique flow operation and are tested in cavitation tunnel within a wide range of variation of main test conditions, i.e. angle of shaft inclination, cavitation number and advance ratio. Propeller thrust and torque are measured during tests, as well as the normal force which appears in this case and has to be taken into account in the evaluation of propeller efficiency. The experimental results are compared with theoretical analysis, based on quasi-steady approach. In order to evaluate the influence of tunnel walls comparative tests have been performed in a vacuum towing tank and it is shown that for the cases investigated, the wall effect is not significant.
