The Fraunhofer-Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA), Stuttgart, has developed a programmable assembly station. The universally applicable assembly station for car aggregates consists of a handling robot with a flexible gripper and a screwing robot with nutrunner and an automatic changing system for different sockets. The features of the programmable station and first test results are discussed.
