Detection and accurate measurement of moisture in natural gas is an important, yet an elusive, undertaking. The reasons to measure the moisture content of natural gas will be presented with this paper along with discussion regarding various methods for measurement and the history of their development. Primitive as well as state-of-the-art moisture measurement techniques will be reviewed along with the benefits and disadvantages of each. This paper ends with an in-depth exploration of operation and maintenance on one such device - the Moisture Titrator. Information contained herein should equip the student with overall knowledge of all moisture management devices commonly used in the natural gas industry, and enable intelligent selection (based upon the inherent advantages and disadvantages of each) of the correct instrument for any particular situation.
