The time, temperature and moisture dependent dimensional changes of a polymeric GY 70/CE 339 composite laminate exposed to variations in temperature and moisture content are calculated using a linear viscoelastic analysis. Experimental verification of the numerical analysis is done by comparison of predicted and measured changes in curvature of nonsymmetric GY70/CE339 laminates after long term exposure to constant temperature and humidity environments. Inplane dimensional changes are calculated for symmetric 'Zero CTE' laminates ranging from 10 to 40 microepsilon for hygrothermal conditions which simulate spacecraft environmental exposure. Finally, a methodology for assessing the effects of space irradiation on laminate dimensional stability is introduced. (Kursetz)
