Two complete reentry vehicle substructures were fabricated using Thornel 300 fibers and epoxy resin. Their generic design embodies all the features and complexities that would be found in an operational reentry vehicle. Principal features of interest are: closely spaced, precisely located frames; complex geometry; and a composite breech-lock joint. One of the substructures was static tested to failure, and quality assurance and fabrication cost data were documented.
