Particulate contamination is present in the working fluid of all hydraulic systems. A simple field procedure for monitoring the amount of contaminant present in a system and means of comparing the results against realistic standards of cleanliness, will enable prompt remedial action to be taken to reduce excessive levels of contamination and thereby achieve longer and more reliable equipment operation.
