Discusses the use of small, electrically powered unmanned aircraft to provide information on the size, strength, components and direction of an enemy move. Using an on-board computer-stored map, making its own decisions using artificial intelligence the vehicle locates the enemy activity with input from radar as well as infrared sensors. Transmitting in short bursts, the aircraft sends encrypted data on enemy vehicles and their location back to the control point. Based on that information, the commander determines the size and purpose of the attack and plans his countermoves. At various other times during the ensuing battle, remotely piloted vehicles are flown in to act as ground sensors, as airborne jammers to confuse enemy radar, as kamikaze units to home on radar emissions and knock out the installation, as direction finders and as laser-designators guiding artillery rounds to moving targets.
