For pt.I see ibid., vol.AES-22, no.3, p.222 (1986). Various types of satellite Earth stations operating in the 30/20 GHz and 6/4 GHz bands, constructed as part of the Japanese Sakura communications satellite program, are described and discussed. Twenty-five stations were constructed: 17 stations for the 30/20 GHz band, six stations for the 6/4 GHz bands, and two stations for both the 30/20 and 6/4 GHz bands. Although the systems were constructed for experimental purposes, they exhibited the capability for practical applications including fixed Earth stations for TDMA and FDMA communications and transportable Earth stations for FDM-FM communications. System outlines for Earth station facilities are presented, the main parameters for each Earth station are defined, and new techniques related to the 30/20 GHz band Earth stations are described.
