Identifies a need for automatic presentation of different display modes - i.e. the cockpit to be automated. An automated cockpit is associated with such terms as 'glass cockpit', 'multi-function keyboards' and 'but systems'. This means using CRT displays to provide information on demand or to present information important for the pilot in certain situations automatically, while suppressing information which is irrelevant for a particular flight profile. The number of operating and control units is reduced by using a computer to assign different functional modes to the same control unit, thus eliminating the need for large numbers of switches and mode selector panels.
