Investigates the survivability and affordability problems created by the automation of battlefield systems. To attack the problems caused by the proliferation of computer types the Army has established the Military Computer Family program including both hardware and software elements. The program is in the framework of a complete and expandable compatible family of automation products for use by system developers. The dual base for the family concept is the high order language Ada, and the standard government owned instruction set architecture nebula.
