As part of its efforts to achieve data link readiness, the US Navy has developed a computer-based simulation system designed to test these communications. The system is called MULTOTS (Multiple Units Link Test and Operational Training System). The official title of this standard Navy test system is AN/MSQ123, Digital Data Communications Test System. The mission of the system is to certify that the data link communications of the TDSs are compatible and interoperable. The link being tested is Tadil, (Tactical Digital Link) 'A', also called Link 11. The Naval Tactical Interoperability Support Activity (NTISA) is the primary MULTOTS user.
