An algorithm has been developed for stabilization of a heavy electromagnet with elastically suspended mass; the readings of clearance and current sensors are employed for stabilization. The frequency characteristic of the stabilization system is given together with the stability region in the plane of spreads in the parameters of the controlled object. The serviceability of the proposed control law for stabilization of a car on an electromagnetic suspension is confirmed by analysis of the roots of the characteristic equation of a vehicle with electromagnetic skid.
