After nine years of research British Columbia Railway and Glenayre Electronics Ltd. have developed a computerised train location, identification and control system - LIC for short - based on microwave radio. Following successful trials BCR is now installing equipment covering the 240 km between North Vancouver and Lillooet. In October 1982 LIC should take over from the existing CTC.
