The ISIS series of simulators offers extensive automatic manoeuvres providing the capability to use students or relatively untrained personnel as 'pseudo-pilots'. The automatic manoeuvres are invoked using the standard alphanumeric keyboard of a CRT terminal. Some keycaps are replaced with ones having appropriate legends. Command syntax is simple and easily learned. The ISIS system has been adapted to drive conventional radar displays known as Plan Position Indicators, to demonstrate the feasibility of driving a complete automated ATC processing and display system.
