LORAN-C is a radio-navigation system which employs 100 kHz pulsed signals. Interference between the ground wave and the reflection from the ionosphere can affect the accuracy of the system. This article describes calculations of amplitude and time delay for a 100 kHz radio wave which is reflected from different ionosphere models. These models simulate day and night conditions together with conditions during a strong disturbance in the polar region. The calculations are made using a 'full wave solution' which gives accurate description of the reflection process. The results indicate at what distance from a LORAN-C transmitter the reflected signal will be able to prevail over the ground wave.
