Discusses the efficiency of energy utilization in the Federal Republic of Germany, where almost 60% of the total final energy demand is due to the demand for space heating and transportation. Fuel is mainly burned in boilers, stoves and engines of small capacity which are mostly operated under unsteady conditions such as load changes, idle etc. which are disadvantageous from the standpoint of energy economy. The share of the pollutants emission (except of SO2) of the sectors space heating and transport in the total emission is much higher than the energy, demand of these sectors compared to the total energy demand. The possibility of the increase and by educational work and better instructions for the user is discussed.
