The uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) is employed in this high frequency study of airborne antenna radiation patterns. It has been shown that one can successfully model aircraft structures using an elliptic cylinder for the fuselage and finite flat plates for the rest of the aircraft appendages; however, the elliptic cylinder model could not predict the pattern close to the nose or tail sectors, where the deviation from the physical situation becomes very prominent. Therefore, in order to overcome this deficiency, the composite prolate spheroid/plates model is developed here.
