The use of electronic warfare has a prime role in today's modern Naval Strategy. The information available from electronic warefare sensors is more than simply a stream of unrelated digital signals. In modern system design electronic warfare sensors permit the gathering of information over a wide spectrum on the disposition, identity and range of electromagnetic emitters. Should these emitters be potentially hostile the information, gathered passively in radar silence, can confer a strategic superiority to the command. The integrated systems described are essential for the complex scenarios envisaged for the 80's and 90's.
