A low-light-level television camera is installed in a pod mounted horizontally below an aircraft. This pod incorporates forward image motion compensation by means of a mirror, mounted at 45 deg, which rocks plus/minus 2 1/2 deg at a rate which is set manually. The rocking mirror in combination with rotation of the pod, both under joystick control, can be used in a search mode. This system has successfully been used to search for fish shoals at night and to obtain image-motion-compensated video records for further processing in stock estimates.
