This paper describes solid-state and digital design advances in modern Precision Approach Radar (PAR) for final approach control of aircraft landing. The new PAR system design aims at improving target detection with increased radar coverage and high clutter elimination capabilities, stable and reliable approach guidance capability realized by sophisticated digital computing technique, and design using LSI and analog IC technique. The design concept and performance, achieved for the major new technologies, such as digital angle data generator, digital moving target indicator, log FTC receiver and solid-state map generator, are discussed.
