This paper considers the Airline Network Seat Inventory Control (ANSIC) problem. The paper investigates the possibilities of using fuzzy set theory in this field, due to the fact that uncertainty is one of the basic characteristics of future demand. Future demand for different passenger itinerary‐fare‐class combinations is treated as a fuzzy number. The proposed model attaches tremendous importance to the analyst making the final decision on booking limits. The heuristic algorithm developed, belonging to the class of “greedy” algorithms, enables the analyst to generate a large number of different allocation plans in a relatively short time, analyze the obtained results and choose the final allocation plan.
