At the beginning of the 20th century, the activity of terrorist groups changed the world forever. Ensuring the safety of airports, aircraft, life and health of passengers and personnel has become one of the key problems of civil aviation. In modern airports, these tasks are performed by the aviation security service. This service includes human and technical resources. The technical resources are designed to perform the functions of security alarm, access restriction, video surveillance, inspection of baggage and passengers. The main technical device for detecting dangerous items in baggage is the X-ray inspection system. The information technologies of digital data processing are used to increase the efficiency of the functioning of such equipment in the part of interpretation of the received images of baggage. Such technologies give the possibility to determine correctly the presence and location of possible dangerous object. This paper considers a new method of digital data processing for effective decision-making about the presence of a handgun in the analyzed image, while assuming that handgun components can be reproduced on a 3D printer. The developed method supposes the computation of the degree of sets similarity and the reliability of decision-making on the dangerous object presence. To evaluate the effectiveness of the detection method, statistical modeling was carried out.
