When trains pass over railway bridges, noise can be radiated by the bridge structure. Since this so-called “bridge noise” can lead to significant annoyance of residents, mitigation measures were intensively investigated in recent years. Within the project “ZIP Brückenleitfaden” guidelines for the application of mitigation measures at new, renewed or refurbished bridges were developed. This paper summarizes results of a recent investigation.
